Peakfinder Updates

Aaron Osicki has spent some time in the Red Deer Valley of Banff National Park conducting archeological research. While there he was able to take some excellent photos of the mountains in the valley and has been kind enough to share them with Peakfinder. Select "Peaks by Major Valley" on the main page and then select "Red Deer" for a list of the peaks. You will find several of Aaron's excellent photos there. We still have a technical problem with Mount White. To reach it you'll have to enter "White" in the "Locate Correct Name" search box. It's worth the trouble though as Aaron has two excellent photos of the mountain on the page. Thanks Aaron.

Thanks to Kevin Altheim for noting that we were missing Mount Anne-Alice in the Mount Robson area and Mount Stuart in he Kootenay Valley. We have added them to the database.

We've enjoyed working with Joyce McCart in sorting out the rather complex naming history of Mount Sabine. Joyce is the author of "On the Road with David Thompson" and is currently working on a book about the Palliser Expedition.

During the summer we will be replacing numerous photos on Peakfinder with better quality ones taken under better lighting and weather conditions. As well, we will be adding lots of new ones. So far you will notice improvements in the Waterton, Highwood, Kananaskis, and Bow Valley areas.

If you have a favourite mountain photo or any information about the peaks of the Canadian Rockies that you would like included in Peakfinder please contact <dave@peakfinder.com>.

Please note that all of the previous newsletters have been archived and are available on the site. If you're interested in other esoteric lists, unusual mountain names, etc. browse through the earlier issues.
